The first-ever Twin Hills Drone Festival is currently underway at Shanghai Expo Culture Park, the historic site of the 2010 World Expo. This event highlights the seamless blend of innovative technology with urban culture and tourism, while also encouraging growth in the low-altitude economy.
Running from March 28 through April 19, the festival offers residents and visitors a chance to get an up-close look at various low-altitude aircraft, including electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicles. Attendees can also try operating drones under the supervision of experienced professionals.
The opening ceremony on March 28 featured a captivating high-tech dance performance, with humanoid robots from Unitree Robotics performing alongside a coordinated drone aerial display.
One of the notable displays included an eVTOL craft from a Chinese drone company, with its cockpit open for visitors to inspect closely.
Families at the event had the opportunity to learn drone controls with guidance from skilled instructors. Kids also experienced immersive drone flying through a first-person view headset display.
Additionally, two children sat on the wing of a lightweight sport aircraft, capturing photos to remember their exciting experience at the festival.
