A total of 170 companies and 27 institutions that have participated in all seven previous editions of the China International Import Expo (CIIE) have already registered for this year’s event, scheduled from November 5 to 10, according to the organizer.
The eighth installment of the CIIE will encompass more than 330,000 square meters of exhibition space and feature 60 international exhibition groups from 40 countries and regions. The number of companies from Canada, Malaysia, New Zealand, Norway, and Peru has reached a record high, announced Wu Zhengping, deputy director of the CIIE Bureau at the National Exhibition and Convention Center Shanghai, during a press conference today.
The process of inviting and confirming participation in the Country Exhibition is nearly complete, with over 50 nations and international organizations confirming their attendance. Among these, Sweden and the United Arab Emirates will serve as guest countries, and Kyrgyzstan will participate for the first time.
This year’s CIIE will introduce a new theme centered around cooperation among friendly cities. It will feature innovative joint exhibition booths designed to provide a comprehensive platform showcasing sister city collaborations both domestically and internationally.
Wu also highlighted four key innovations planned for this year’s business exhibition. First, a dedicated zone for products from the least developed countries, along with an upgraded African products section, aims to help enterprises from those regions leverage zero-tariff benefits when entering the Chinese market.
Second, the cooperation with foreign provinces and cities is being expanded, with Saskatchewan, Canada, and Almaty, Kazakhstan, participating for the first time.
Third, the event will strengthen its role as a global launch platform for new products, cutting-edge technologies, and innovative services. Special launch channels and dedicated zones will be established to assist exhibitors in maximizing live broadcast engagement.
Fourth, a cross-border e-commerce selection platform will be created, featuring specialized promotional activities designed to enrich the overall exhibition experience for participating enterprises.
