As the 2026 Consumer Electronics Show takes place in Las Vegas, it has become a prominent platform for four top Chinese and South Korean TV manufacturers to display their latest mini LED TVs. The focus of competition is increasingly on display richness and realism, especially in color quality.
Leading brands including Hisense Visual Technology, TCL Group, Samsung Electronics, and LG Electronics announced their newest mini LED TV innovations prior to this year’s event.
“All major TV brands are showcasing mini LED models at this year’s CES, including premium options,” said Zhang Hong, deputy general manager of a large-sized display division at a Chinese market research firm. “Hisense’s RGB mini LED tech, based in Qingdao, has notably narrowed the quality gap with OLED TVs and even outperforms them in color spectrum.”
Beyond basic specifications, competition in the high-end mini LED segment now revolves around unique display technologies such as light sources, chips, and color management systems, Zhang added.
Industry leaders unveiling advanced mini LED tech suggest that this year could mark the beginning of widespread mini LED TV adoption worldwide. Market analyst Hu Jiarong from TrendForce noted that these TVs have advantages over OLED models in lifespan and cost, particularly for larger screens.
Mini LED TVs are increasingly challenging OLED TVs’ dominance in the premium segment, and their fast adoption may boost overall global TV market growth in the coming year.
“These TVs are expected to rapidly gain popularity in mid- to high-end markets both domestically and internationally, with global shipments projected to jump 58% this year from last year, reaching 21.1 million units,” Zhang stated.
Rising Sales Figures
TrendForce also forecasts that while total global TV shipments may decline slightly by 0.3% this year, mini LED TV sales are likely to grow by 40%, with their market share continuing to expand.
“In 2024, miniature LED TV shipments worldwide hit 7.85 million units, surpassing OLED TV shipments of 6.12 million for the first time,” explained Wang Xianming, head of the TV supply chain at RUNTO. “This lead is expected to grow further in 2025 and beyond.”
Wang predicts global mini LED TV shipments will increase by 30.1% this year from the previous year, reaching 16.1 million units, with China likely accounting for over 10 million units. Meanwhile, overall Chinese TV shipments are expected to decrease by about 8%, totaling around 30 million units.
With rising demand for mini LED TVs, Wang anticipates that between 2026 and 2027, leading Chinese TV manufacturers may emerge as strong contenders for the top spot in the global market share.
