The price of select Labubus dolls, a popular product from a Chinese toy manufacturer, has dropped by as much as 88 percent on resale platforms, mainly due to an increase in supply.
For example, the resale value of the “ID Secret” version from this year’s best-selling Labubu collection, The Monsters Big Into Energy (Version 3), has fallen from a high of CNY 4,522 (roughly USD 645) to CNY 540 (about USD 77) as of yesterday. This decline follows several restocks, with a previous drop to CNY 2,433 after a major restock on June 18, according to data from a used goods marketplace.
The collection was originally released in April at a retail price of CNY 99 (around USD 14.15) per box. Over the past month, the average resale price hovered around CNY 117, reaching a peak of CNY 131 on December 16, based on marketplace data.
On some secondhand platforms, prices for certain Labubus dolls have fallen below their retail costs, leading some resellers to announce on social media that they plan to cease purchasing these dolls.
The stock price of the toy company has also experienced a significant decline, closing today at HKD 185 (approximately USD 23.77). This marks a 46 percent drop from its recent peak of HKD 339.80 on August 26.
