On August 14, a Chinese supplier of electronic components announced plans to collaborate with a prominent Japanese industrial equipment company to share resources, leverage mutual strengths, and boost their competitiveness in the market by integrating their specialized materials for flat panel display manufacturing.
The partnership is currently in its exploratory stage, with no formal agreement yet signed between the two companies, which are based in Zhejiang province.
The Japanese firm is well-known globally for its advanced technology in materials used for organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays, while the Chinese company’s materials for flat panel displays have been certified by major domestic manufacturers and are supplied in significant volumes. This reflects strong customer loyalty and a sustainable business model, the company stated.
Materials vital to flat panel displays are considered critical in the supply chain, marked by their high technical barriers and significant added value. The purity, uniformity, and stability of their microstructure directly influence key display performance metrics such as resolution.
One of the company’s main products is ultra-high purity metal sputtering targets, which include materials like aluminum, titanium, tantalum, and copper—used in the production of flat panel displays and semiconductor chips.
Sales of sputtering targets increased by 40% year-over-year, reaching CNY 2.3 billion (approximately USD 325 million) in the last fiscal year, making up 65% of its total annual revenue, according to its yearly financial report. The company counts China’s leading display manufacturer among its clients.
The company’s stock rose 1.2% to CNY 73.10 (about USD 10.19) as of 1:50 p.m. in Shenzhen today, after experiencing a peak increase of 4.2% during the trading session.
