DJI Technology has entered the smart home appliance sector by unveiling its first robot vacuum cleaner. The company introduced the Romo series yesterday, which includes the Romo S priced at CNY 4,699 (roughly USD 655), the Romo A at CNY 5,399, and the Romo P at CNY 6,799.
Romo is a new smart cleaning line that falls under DJI’s innovation ecosystem, according to sources. There is ongoing consideration about developing Romo as an independent brand in the future. While the overall intelligence features across DJI’s brands are quite similar, the company can capitalize on its expertise in vision technology, machine learning, and environmental sensing—skills honed through its drone business—to enhance the capabilities of its cleaning robots, stated Senior Director of Corporate Strategy Zhang Xiaonan.
The robot vacuum market is becoming increasingly competitive, with the top five players—an American company and four Chinese firms including Ecovacs Robotics, Xiaomi, Roborock, and Narwal—collectively holding about 61% of the global market share in 2023, according to a report from QYResearch.
