A self-driving electric moped on display at Yadea’s product showcase in Wuxi, located in eastern China’s Jiangsu Province, highlighted the technological advancements of autonomous two-wheelers along with the company’s expertise in developing eco-friendly mobility solutions.
Within the showroom of this prominent Chinese electric vehicle brand, an array of electric motorbikes and e-bikes was featured. Notably, a compact, foldable electric bike—almost handbag-sized—captured journalists’ attention during their visit to the Wuxi headquarters.
As a global front-runner in annual electric two-wheeler sales, the company provides a broad selection of high-performance electric motorcycles, mopeds, bicycles, and kick scooters. Committed to its motto of “A wonderful journey for global users,” the firm aims to deliver sustainable, environmentally friendly transportation options worldwide.
Shen Yu, an executive director at the company, revealed that sales of various e-mobility products reached 8.79 million units in the first half of 2025, generating approximately 19.1 billion yuan (around $2.7 billion USD), marking a 33% increase compared to the previous year.
She emphasized that venturing into international markets is a critical part of their growth strategy and widely supported within Wuxi’s electric motorcycle industry. The company has invested in manufacturing facilities in Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, and Mexico. Some of these plants are already operational, while others are still in development.
This company exemplifies the vibrant electric motorcycle industry hub in Wuxi, which also hosts other notable Chinese brands like TAILG and AIMA. Recently, Wuxi’s electric two-wheeler sector has intensified efforts to penetrate overseas markets, providing Chinese green technology solutions to benefit consumers and promote the global shift toward sustainability. A significant aspect of this push involves international investments and expansion efforts.
Local government data indicates that over 160 companies involved in the electric motorcycle supply chain, including component makers, are based in Wuxi’s Xishan District. Over the years, companies such as this brand have established more than 20 overseas manufacturing facilities.
During a press event at their corporate headquarters, Wang Jiazhong, the company’s senior vice president, stated that their current priorities include developing products tailored for global markets and opening physical stores where international customers can experience Chinese technology and innovations firsthand.
He also announced plans to inaugurate a new manufacturing plant in Vietnam, transitioning from a rented space to a purpose-built facility capable of producing two million electric motorcycles annually.
“Once full production commences, the Vietnam factory is expected to create over 2,000 local jobs. When considering the entire supply chain, including sales and service roles, the sector’s growth could generate up to 50,000 jobs,” Wang explained.
The company’s Indonesian facility is also preparing to increase capacity, with expansion scheduled for the second half of 2026. “If everything proceeds smoothly, we anticipate similar employment opportunities in Indonesia as in Vietnam,” he added.
Furthermore, the company intends to establish additional production bases and transfer warehouses in markets such as Africa, Europe, and Central Asia, where potential for electric motorcycle growth remains promising.
Wuxi’s local government reports rising global interest in China’s technological innovations and smart, green transportation solutions. Earlier this year, the district hosted an electric motorcycle product launch attended by procurement teams from 21 countries.
Looking ahead, local authorities plan to continue supporting local electric motorcycle companies in expanding international collaborations and enhancing their brand recognition.
