Next month’s China International Import Expo will showcase emerging consumer trends such as the “silver” and “ice-and-snow” economies, according to the deputy director of the event’s organizing bureau.
This year, the “silver economy,” which emphasizes products and services for senior citizens, has expanded from the medical exhibition area into the consumer goods section, aiming to foster collaboration across different sectors. During a press conference, the official noted that one of the six main exhibition zones will be dedicated to medical devices and healthcare. The other five zones will cover automobiles and smart mobility, technical equipment, consumer products, agricultural and food items, and services, alongside a dedicated innovation incubation zone.
In addition, the expo will feature a special section to highlight innovative breakthroughs and the “ice-and-snow” economy, introducing new consumption themes and scenarios. Efforts to develop new retail channels include setting up a Cross-border E-commerce Preferred Platform and a dedicated Service Area. The event will also expand its African product exhibition zone to improve access for less developed countries to China’s zero-tariff market.
Major global companies will participate in the expo, which will be held in Shanghai from November 5 to 10. Attendees include the top ten international industrial electrical firms, four of the largest grain traders, and leading multinational healthcare companies. Several companies will also be making their debut at the event.
This eighth edition will feature a record-breaking 4,108 overseas exhibitors, with the total exhibition space exceeding 430,000 square meters, according to the Vice Minister of Commerce.
