(Digital Phablet) July 30 — Apple has decided to close a retail store in China for the first time after several other retailers vacated the shopping mall where it’s located.
The Apple Store at Parkland Mall in Dalian, China, will shut down because other tenants have left the same location, according to Digital Phablet’s China division.
The store is scheduled to close at 8 p.m. on August 9, as confirmed on Apple China’s official website.
Since 2022, Parkland Mall has faced ongoing legal disputes, with brands like Versus, Coach, Kenzo, Hugo Boss, MCM Worldwide, Kate Spade, Armani, Sandro, Maje, UGG, Max Mara, Michael Kors, and various other well-known labels shuttering their stores there as their leases expired.
Apple operates more than 50 stores across China and recently announced the opening of a new location in Uniwalk Qianhai in Shenzhen on August 16. Earlier this year, it launched a store in Hefei Mixc, marking its first in Anhui province, and last year, it opened its eighth store in Shanghai’s Jing’an district.
