On November 14th, Xiaomi unveiled a new exploration plan for its smart home future, called Xiaomi Local Copilot (Miloco). This innovative initiative aims to develop a fully integrated, AI-driven household living experience powered by large-scale models. The core idea is to enable users to communicate directly with their smart home systems through natural dialogue. Using advanced reasoning capabilities, the system can automatically handle various household needs and rules, streamlining daily routines.
The new plan fundamentally redefines how users interact with their home technology, emphasizing privacy and security. Xiaomi has prioritized on-device deployment of these large models to ensure user data remains protected from external threats. Currently, Miloco is open to the public and accessible via GitHub, inviting developers worldwide to participate in its ongoing development.
A visual representation of Xiaomi’s vision for future smart homes accompanies the announcement. The company highlighted that the technological backbone of Miloco features the Xiaomi MiMo-VL-Miloco-7B large visual language model. This model grants the entire smart home ecosystem the ability to perceive and interpret its surroundings, enabling context-aware, scenario-specific automation and interaction.
From user interfaces to hardware integration, Xiaomi has built a comprehensive, end-to-end technical framework for Miloco. The platform is fully open, allowing developers to modify and expand any part of the system, fostering a collaborative environment for innovation and customization. This openness is aimed at creating a more adaptable, personalized, and intelligent living space powered by AI.
