Vivo has officially announced that their new Vision product will be unveiled on August 21, marking the company’s bold move into the mixed reality (MR) space—becoming the first major Chinese smartphone manufacturer to follow Apple into this emerging field.
According to 洪沂, General Manager of Vivo’s smart terminal products, the Vivo Vision is equipped with a cutting-edge Micro-OLED display featuring dual 8K resolution. This configuration sets a new industry standard, providing users with an experience akin to carrying a 120-foot high-definition giant screen that fits in their pocket.
Beyond the impressive specs, Vivo has meticulously refined every aspect of the device—from screen selection to calibration and testing. Notably, the dual-camera calibration process is performed using a proprietary manufacturing line. Each unit undergoes rigorous dual-eye brightness and color difference calibration, significantly reducing disparities that can cause visual discomfort or dizziness.
In terms of audio, Vivo Vision offers a surround sound experience, simulating sound as if it originates from all directions. The device also features immersive viewing modes optimized for different environments, delivering a more engaging experience than traditional headsets or even cinemas.
To address concerns over device weight, Vivo adopted a split-structure design with structural enhancements and lightweight yet strong magnesium alloy materials. These measures successfully reduced the weight of the mid-frame to just 49.2 grams. The overall dimensions have been compressed by nearly 30% compared to similar devices, thanks in part to an innovative trapezoidal prism mirror layout, which not only lightens the headset but also results in a sleeker and more refined appearance.
Apple’s Vision Pro faced criticism for its weight—clocking in at 650 grams—which caused discomfort during prolonged use, particularly around the neck. Vivo aims to solve this issue with the Vision, enabling longer and more comfortable immersive experiences for users.
As the release date approaches, expectations are high for Vivo Vision’s performance, marking a significant step forward in the consumer mixed reality market.
