In a significant move toward establishing itself as a leader in China’s domestic tech industry, MoEOR Technologies, also known as Moore Thread, has announced a notable financial milestone. Over the past three and a half years, the company reported a cumulative loss of approximately 5.3 billion yuan (roughly $780 million). Despite these challenges, Moore Thread remains unwavering in its goal to become the country’s first fully domestically-produced GPU manufacturer.
The company’s journey has been marked by substantial investments in research and development, with the aim of reducing reliance on foreign semiconductor technology. While its financials reflect ongoing struggles, Moore Thread asserts that its recent product innovations and strategic partnerships position it well for future growth.
Industry analysts note that Moore Thread’s pursuit of a homegrown GPU aligns with China’s broader ambitions to strengthen its semiconductor industry and reduce dependence on imports amid ongoing trade tensions. Although the road has been tough, with significant losses reported, the company’s commitment to the development of indigenous graphic processing units suggests that it is determined to carve out a niche in this highly competitive market.
Looking ahead, Moore Thread remains optimistic, emphasizing plans to accelerate product launches and scale operations. If successful, its efforts could mark a major breakthrough for China’s push toward technological self-sufficiency in the rapidly evolving sector of graphics processing hardware.
