Claude is a strong contender against ChatGPT, but it lacks some essential features that would really elevate its competitiveness. I’ve had the chance to use both extensively, and I believe that if Claude integrated these additional features, it would surpass ChatGPT.
7
Projects for Free Mode
Claude offers a Projects feature in its paid version, allowing users to better organize their conversations. This is an excellent way to maintain order, and you can set tailored instructions to ensure more relevant responses. I’ve utilized the Projects feature in ChatGPT, and it has greatly helped in organizing my sidebar.
Unfortunately, Claude doesn’t currently offer Projects or any similar feature in its free version. While it’s understandable that some tools are reserved for paying customers—after all, businesses need to generate revenue—providing a taste of the Projects feature could incentivize more users to upgrade to the paid version.
In my view, allowing users to utilize one or two free Projects would be a smart move. Without this option, the Claude sidebar can quickly become cluttered.
Another standout feature for ChatGPT is the ability to create Custom GPTs, which is often underrated. These allow for a variety of uses, from enhanced research capabilities to creating workout plans and analyzing data.
In contrast, Claude lacks this feature. While it does have Artifacts for focused coding and writing, it misses out on the versatility of starting conversations through Custom GPTs. This is also true for Claude’s GitHub integration.
Implementing a feature similar to Custom GPTs would significantly enhance the accuracy and adaptability of Claude’s conversations, minimizing the need for frequent adjustments.
5
Improved Voice Modes
Claude allows mobile communication through its voice feature, enabling users to send voice messages and receive spoken responses. This is beneficial for various scenarios, such as job interview preparation.
However, it cannot compete with offerings from ChatGPT and Gemini, which feature more advanced voice capabilities and a broader selection of voices. Interacting with these platforms feels much more conversational.
While improvements in this area are likely on the horizon for Claude, it currently falls short in comparison. In the meantime, you can enjoy ChatGPT’s live voice and other visual features in various applications.
4
Image Creation
ChatGPT’s image creation capabilities have seen significant enhancements since the initial DALL-E release. While there were once numerous flaws in text and object interactions, those issues are now far less prevalent.
Although Gemini offers an image generation feature, it doesn’t quite reach the level of ChatGPT’s capabilities. Claude, however, doesn’t provide any image creation options at all, which is quite disappointing. Since I often use Claude for brainstorming, having the ability to generate prototypes visually would be a welcome addition.
3
Enhanced Emotional Intelligence
Many AI platforms have significantly improved their ability to engage in more human-like conversations, though it’s still clear you’re interacting with a bot. ChatGPT, especially with its GPT-4o model, excels in this department, particularly regarding emotional intelligence.
ChatGPT is adept at conversational tones and can recognize emotions based on your typing. It also surpasses Claude in asking follow-up questions that provide a more comprehensive understanding.
Responses from Claude can still feel somewhat mechanical. Until this changes, engaging in deep discussions or conceptual work using Claude will be unnecessarily challenging.
2
Superior Memorization
Like other AI tools, Claude learns from the information you provide. However, it still considerably trails behind its competitors. For instance, ChatGPT updates its memory as the conversation progresses, which can be a double-edged sword since it can sometimes be more than you bargained for, but it’s easy to reverse if unwanted.
Improved memorization capabilities would make Claude far more user-friendly and could entice more individuals to switch from ChatGPT and its alternatives. If you’re ever uncertain about which tool to use, experimenting with the same prompt across various AI platforms is always a viable option.
1
Broader Multilingual Support
Claude can handle several languages including English, German, Indonesian, and Portuguese. Within these, users have the option to speak or write in different dialects, such as Latin American Spanish.
However, Claude’s multilingual capabilities are somewhat limited. While English users will have no trouble interacting, it may be challenging for non-English speakers to input prompts in their native languages. Although there’s potential for expansion in this area, other tools currently outperform Claude in multilingual functionality.
While Claude remains a fantastic AI chatbot, implementing a few straightforward enhancements could elevate it significantly. Making Projects available in the free version, along with incorporating Custom GPT-like features, would greatly enhance its overall value.
