People also intend to use them as disembodied voices like Siri and even impersonal bits and bytes that work behind computer screens. Samsung and its subsidiary Star Labs showed off earlier at CES 2020. They showed off AI that was both relatable as if it was not enough to have them standing at arm’s length on wall-mounted displays. Samsung might be toying with the idea of bringing Neon to the phones.
These artificial humans are not Siri, Cortana, or Alexa made digital flesh. Instead, they are made to be virtual equivalents of persons who will be expressing their emotions and reactions with the help of AI and will be reacting in a human-like way. They will be more like virtual friends rather than being a virtual assistant.
If the pandemic had not arrived, then Samsung may have thrown a wrench to demonstrate the kind of product it wanted Neon to become. This idea of a virtual companion may be attractive to some people, having constricted to a life-sized screen on the wall of your house breaks the illusion it tried to offer. It looks like Samsung wants you to take your virtual companion Neon along with you in the future, whether it’s best or worse.
The president and CEO Pranav Mistry disclosed on Twitter that NEON was already working on his phone. Their achievements also include the Samsung project beyond the 3D capture system and the Galaxy Gear of Samsung. He further shared that we can only assume it’s some high-end phone of Samsung Galaxy, and in the upcoming next month, the public might be able to see this combination.
