OpenAI is reportedly gearing up to introduce a new feature called “Record” in its ChatGPT AI chatbot, according to a tweet from M1Astra on May 15. This addition aims to enhance the platform’s capabilities by challenging the integration of Microsoft Teams’ Copilot.
The anticipated Record function is designed specifically for online meetings. Users will be able to engage with ChatGPT using a “drag to talk” method, allowing for interactive participation. The feature will support audio recording, enabling users to pause or resume as needed. ChatGPT will then convert the recorded audio into text, generating detailed meeting reports and automatically summarizing the content.
Before use, ChatGPT will request access to the microphone and system audio, and it will remind users that obtaining consent from relevant participants is necessary before recording.
Sources speculate that in the short term, this feature may only function through an overlay in ChatGPT, suggesting it may not integrate deeply with mainstream meeting applications like Microsoft Teams or Zoom just yet.
