On January 10, industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo released a report detailing Wistron’s operational structure for 2025, highlighting several important trends within the tech sector.
Wistron Tech, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Wistron Corporation, specializes in cloud services and provides a range of products and system solutions for large data centers. According to Kuo, Amazon’s Trainium 2 servers are expected to see significant shipments in the first half of this year, with Wistron’s production lines currently operating at full capacity. The current Trainium servers utilize air cooling, while a liquid-cooled version is anticipated to begin mass production in the fourth quarter of 2025.
In addition, Wistron plans to roll out OpenAI’s ASIC AI servers as early as the fourth quarter of 2026, with potential shipments extending into the first quarter of 2027. These servers, designed by Broadcom, will also feature a water-cooling setup, and the price per cabinet is expected to be considerably higher than that of the air-cooled models.
Kuo noted that starting in 2026-2027, the power consumption of ASIC AI servers could rise to over 80-100kW per cabinet due to substantial upgrades in processing power, which necessitates the use of water cooling. This change is expected to significantly increase the sale price of these units.
Additionally, Wistron is in discussions with Middle Eastern data center client Omniva to reassess their GB200 NVL72 order. If negotiations proceed favorably, production could commence in the second or third quarter of this year, with an initial batch of approximately 1,000 cabinets.
