Meta’s CTO, Andrew Bosworth, announced on Wednesday that the company’s newly established AI laboratory has already delivered its first batch of significant AI models within just a few months of operation. Speaking at a press conference held during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Bosworth highlighted the promising potential of the models developed by the Meta Superintelligence Lab team, which was formed last year.
He explained that the team has been working for approximately six months—or even less—and already achieved notable success with their AI models, describing their performance as “very impressive.” Although Bosworth did not specify which models have been completed or delivered internally, he emphasized the rapid progress made by the team.
Earlier reports by the Financial Times in December revealed that Meta is working on a text-based AI model known as “Avocado,” which is expected to be launched in the first quarter. Additionally, the company is developing another model focused on images and videos, codenamed “Mango.” These projects indicate Meta’s aggressive push into advanced artificial intelligence research, which continues to draw significant industry attention.
Meta’s advancements in AI come amid a broader industry race, with CEO Mark Zuckerberg undertaking major restructuring efforts to strengthen the company’s leadership in AI development. The company has also assembled a new team and is competing fiercely for top talent, offering lucrative compensation packages in hopes of gaining an edge at the forefront of technological innovation.
