In a significant announcement at the 2025 Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Honor has unveiled its ambitious HONOR ALPHA PLAN, which proposes an investment of over $10 billion over the next five years to develop a global AI terminal ecosystem. This initiative marks Honor’s strategic shift towards becoming an AI ecosystem company, with plans divided into three key phases.
The first phase focuses on creating truly intelligent smartphones, where Honor aims to collaborate with partners to push the boundaries of technology and co-create a new paradigm for AI terminals. The second phase will venture into the realm of physical AI, aiming to redefine industry standards and expand the AI ecosystem. Finally, in the era of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), Honor aspires to unlock human potential and pioneer a new framework for human civilization.
Honor’s CEO, George Zhao, emphasized that the AI revolution is set to reshape the terminal industry in unprecedented ways, fundamentally transforming productivity, society, and culture.
On the technical front, Honor has partnered with Google Cloud and Qualcomm to launch personal mobile AI agents, allowing users to access cross-platform services through natural language commands. The new AiMAGE imaging brand supports a collaborative AI model optimized for cloud computing, featuring a 1.3 billion parameter model that enhances image clarity by 50%, while a cloud-side model with 12.4 billion parameters improves telephoto image quality. Additionally, Honor has developed an ecosystem-wide file-sharing technology that enables fast data transfer between iOS and Android devices, along with AI-powered deepfake detection technology to bolster information security.
Honor also announced deep partnerships with major firms such as Google Cloud, Qualcomm, and France Telecom, with Google’s Gemini AI model integrated into its solutions. Qualcomm executive Alex Katouzian stated that the collaboration aims to revolutionize AI terminal experiences. Furthermore, the company has committed to providing seven years of Android system updates for its Magic series in the European market while accelerating its path to carbon neutrality, targeting operational carbon neutrality by 2040 and value chain carbon neutrality by 2050.
At MWC, Honor unveiled several new products featuring embedded AI capabilities, including the MagicBook Pro 14 laptop, Honor Tablet V9, Watch 5 Ultra, and Earbuds Open headphones, showcasing its commitment to integrating advanced AI technologies into its offerings.
