During an interview with international media, Jensen Huang, the CEO of NVIDIA, recently expressed concerns about the United States’ performance in the 5G telecommunications sector, describing it as a “disaster.” Huang emphasized that the U.S. has lost its leadership position in the 5G industry and warned against the country repeating the same mistakes in artificial intelligence (AI) and the upcoming 6G technology.
Huang noted that there is an opportunity for the U.S. to regain ground with 6G, citing that the next-generation technology will be driven by AI. He stressed the importance of ensuring the U.S. maintains its influence in the AI revolution by building applications on American technology stacks. Currently, approximately 50% of AI developers worldwide are based in China, a fact Huang sees as a challenge to U.S. dominance.
The NVIDIA CEO suggested that instead of restricting the export of technology, America should promote its tech ecosystem as the global standard. Huang compared this approach to the U.S. dollar’s status as the world’s reserve currency, advocating for a global AI infrastructure rooted in American-designed chips and systems, not just advanced AI models.
Huang’s remarks highlight a strategic push for the U.S. to reinforce its leadership in future technological developments, emphasizing the need for a cohesive national tech ecosystem to stay ahead in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.
