Waiting anxiously for a graded paper can be one of the most stressful experiences for students. Grammarly’s latest feature promises to provide an immediate grade estimate, so you don’t have to endure the long, nerve-wracking wait.
Today, Grammarly announced a range of new features for both free and premium users, including an AI-powered grader. This tool aims to predict your paper’s grade based on various parameters like uploaded rubrics, course details, and writing topics. It offers tailored feedback and recommended improvements, giving students a quick snapshot of their paper’s expected evaluation.
A lot of the grading process can depend on the instructor’s personal evaluation style. Grammarly has even considered this factor, claiming the AI can incorporate publicly available information about a teacher’s grading preferences.
While I’ve been somewhat skeptical about Grammarly’s AI capabilities, this feature might actually be helpful for students. That said, the accuracy of these grade predictions is crucial. I also question how well the system can gauge a professor’s specific grading style if they have little online presence or publicly available profiles for that purpose.
Alongside the AI Grader, Grammarly introduced seven additional AI agents: Read Reactions, Citation Finder, Expert Review, Proofreader, AI Detector, Plagiarism Checker, and Paraphraser. Each tool is designed to handle a specific aspect of writing and editing, streamlining the workflow. Although other AI tools can perform similar functions, Grammarly aims to reduce the effort required to prompt each one by allowing users to summon the exact agent they need directly.
Grammarly also introduced Docs, a new document-based interface that serves as an AI-centric workspace, bringing all its AI tools together in one place. These new features are now available in both Grammarly Free and Grammarly Pro, with plans to expand to Grammarly Enterprise and Grammarly for Education later this year. All eight AI agents will be accessible within Docs at no extra cost and will gradually be integrated across the platforms users already rely on.
