The highly anticipated Google I/O event has wrapped up, revealing a slew of exciting new features that are now available to try. Here’s a look at some of the highlights.

AI Search Mode
As expected, the event was packed with announcements centered around artificial intelligence. One major update is the new AI Search Mode, which has transitioned from testing to availability for all users in the U.S. Unlike the sometimes comedic and often frustrating AI-generated summaries from standard Google searches, this mode focuses entirely on AI.
To access it, go to the main Google search page and select AI Mode in the search bar. While regular Google searches yield links, the AI mode is designed to provide detailed answers to more complex questions. The AI-generated results resemble what you’d find in a ChatGPT search, featuring multiple paragraphs that discuss the topic thoroughly and include sources for further exploration. Although AI will likely never fully replace traditional Google searches, its search results boast several advantages over the classic format.

Imagen 4
ChatGPT’s advanced image generation feature now faces competition with the launch of Imagen 4. Google claims this latest model can deliver images in 2K resolution across various aspect ratios, as well as the flexibility to choose different artistic styles and designs.
The most significant improvement in this version is its ability to accurately generate text, resolving a major issue that plagued earlier AI-generated images.
Imagen 4 is integrated into both Gemini and Whisk.

Google AI Ultra
If you’re willing to splurge and crave the latest in AI technology, Google has an enticing offer for you—the Google AI Ultra subscription. For a monthly fee of $250, you’ll gain access to the top tier of all Google’s models, complete with a hefty 30TB of cloud storage and a YouTube Premium subscription.
Exclusive to AI Ultra subscribers is Veo 3, Google’s advanced AI video model, which boasts enhanced capabilities for realistic physics and lip-syncing, as demonstrated in the accompanying video.

Flow
Flow is an AI-driven video editing tool that can create videos using Veo 2 or Veo 3, allowing users to stitch clips together on a timeline and manipulate camera movements while showcasing their projects. You can generate a static image with Imagen and then turn that into a video clip. Google AI Ultra subscribers can utilize either video creation model, while those with the more budget-friendly AI Pro subscription can access only Veo 2.
