Alibaba’s Chinese Chatbot “Qianwen” Team Responds to Rumors During Company Meeting
In a recent company-wide meeting, Alibaba’s Qianwen team addressed circulating rumors about their AI chatbot project. Reports online claimed that during the gathering, team members were seen eating snacks—specifically, bean buns—leading to widespread speculation among the tech community.
However, Alibaba’s official statement dismisses these claims as false. A spokesperson clarified, “The reports suggesting that team members were engaged in ‘eating bean buns’ during the meeting are entirely fabricated. Such rumors are exaggerated and do not reflect the actual events.” The company emphasized that the meeting was focused on strategic discussions and technical progress related to the “Qianwen” AI assistant.
The incident underscores ongoing curiosity and scrutiny surrounding Alibaba’s advancements in conversational AI. As one of China’s leading tech giants, Alibaba has been investing heavily in developing intelligent chatbots, aiming to compete with global counterparts. Despite the rumors, the company remains committed to innovation and transparency.
Industry analysts suggest that such rumors may be part of broader misinformation efforts amid stiff competition in the AI sector. Alibaba continues to push forward with its AI initiatives, with updates expected in the coming months.
