On March 10th, IT之家 reports that Adobe has announced the launch of its AI assistant in Photoshop, opening it up to web and mobile users in a beta testing phase. Additionally, the Firefly creative platform has been integrated with new AI-driven image editing capabilities.
Adobe first revealed these features back in October 2022 during a product showcase. The AI assistant allows users to perform a range of editing tasks simply by inputting prompts. These tasks include removing objects or people, adjusting lighting, changing colors, softening images, cropping, enhancing shadows, and even reshaping backgrounds.
Existing Photoshop subscribers can access and utilize the AI editing tools unlimited times until April 9th, while free users are granted a quota of 20 uses. A particularly noteworthy addition is the “AI Marking” feature, which enables users to generate complete images based on hand-drawn sketches or simple markings. For example, sketching a flower can prompt the AI to insert it into the composition, or marking an object can trigger the AI to remove it and seamlessly adjust the background.
Photoshop’s new AI features are complemented by updates to the Firefly platform, Adobe’s creative suite. The update introduces several advanced image editing functions, including generative fill—which has been part of Photoshop for some time—allowing for object addition, replacement, and background adjustments. The latest enhancements expand capabilities further with features like generative removal, upscaling (super-resolution), and generative expansion, providing artists and designers with more powerful creative tools.
