The Samsung Galaxy S25 has just launched, and alongside its debut, a fresh range of phone cases has appeared to safeguard your new device. However, one particular case is drawing considerable criticism: Samsung’s Magnetic Wireless Charging Case.
This transparent magnetic case was made available shortly before the Galaxy S25 hit the shelves, but it hasn’t met user expectations, particularly regarding its performance. Drawing inspiration from Apple’s MagSafe cases, this case has become sold out on Samsung’s website. Despite this, it has earned a rather low rating of 2.5 out of 5 stars, based on a handful of mixed reviews.
One customer noted that while the clear magnetic case looks appealing and fits well, it is “very hard to remove…without pressing down on the cameras…which I am reluctant to do.” Others echoed this sentiment, pointing out that the magnet lacks strength. One user commented that it “does not stick to metal items” and that it tends to slide off easily. Another added, “Just a bump while driving and the whole setup detaches from the magnetic mount.”
Recently, Samsung announced plans to enhance wireless charging speeds in upcoming devices using the S2MIW06 chip, which supports charging speeds up to 50W and adheres to Qi and Qi2 standards. The Galaxy S25 Ultra currently supports only 15W wireless charging, which is comparatively slower than other Android devices that feature the new chip. Testing showed that the magnetic case could handle 25W of Qi2 wireless charging, despite the Galaxy S25 Ultra lacking the new chip.
While Samsung’s magnetic case remains a viable option for those looking to utilize wireless charging, prospective buyers might want to be cautious regarding its limitations based on user feedback.
