The eagerly awaited trade feature in Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket has sparked significant debate since its launch. Fortunately, the developers have announced that one of its most frustrating aspects will soon become a thing of the past.
In a statement posted on the official Pokémon forums, the developers revealed that “trade tokens will be entirely eliminated, meaning players will no longer need to swap cards” for this form of currency. Instead of using trade tokens, players will now utilize shinedust for trades involving three- or four-diamond and one-star rarity cards.
Shinedust is already collectible, and the announcement indicates that players will earn it at a higher rate, given its expanded utility. The developers assert that this change will enable players to trade a larger number of cards than before. When trade tokens are phased out, any that players currently possess will automatically convert to shinedust, although the exact exchange rate remains unspecified.

Additionally, with these updates, players will now receive shinedust for any duplicate cards they acquire. However, no changes will be made regarding one- and two-diamond trades.
A promising new feature is on the horizon that will allow players to flag specific cards they are in search of within the in-game trading system. Although not confirmed, this enhancement may facilitate searching for trades based on card type, making the quest for those elusive cards significantly easier.
The developers plan to implement all these updates by the end of autumn 2025. While no specific date has been provided, it is anticipated that the changes will be realized by mid-November at the latest.
