Chinese lifestyle platform Meituan has unveiled the initial version of its AI-powered browser, Tabbit, exactly three months after beginning its public beta testing. The company announced that Tabbit 1.0 became officially available yesterday. According to Liu Jiong, the head of the product development team, the product’s successful launch within this timeframe demonstrates that it has developed in a healthy manner.
Tabbit functions as an AI integrated browser designed with several advanced large-scale models. It can automatically perform complex tasks across various software applications and web pages once users specify their needs, sources indicate.
Recognizing that typical browsers are somewhat outdated, Meituan aims to capitalize on the AI era by reinventing its browser. The company is focused on creating an open ecosystem of skills that will transform browsers from simple web navigators into proactive AI workstations.
Throughout the public beta phase, Tabbit underwent weekly modifications based on user feedback, resulting in over 100 new features. The efficiency of task completion by AI agents has significantly improved, with success rates increasing from 53% in March to 92% today. Additionally, in May, the average monthly token usage per user reached 8.53 million.
One notable enhancement is the new memory function, which allows the browser to continuously record user preferences, background information, and other relevant data, improving personalized experiences.
The research and development team at Meituan has been actively working on new AI products and forming external collaborations. They partnered with WeChat to develop and test the WeChat AI ecosystem, enabling users to access services through WeChat’s AI Agent for a smarter, more seamless AI-driven lifestyle.
On June 8, Tencent’s super-app WeChat announced that it would give developers access to its AI ecosystem, allowing users to operate AI mini-programs via the WeChat AI Agent.
