<p>Police and security personnel flooded the White House vicinity Saturday evening after reports of gunfire, according to AFP journalists.</p>
<p>At the time, President Donald Trump was at the White House working on negotiations with Iran.</p>
<p>Authorities sealed off access to the White House and National Guard units prevented an AFP reporter from entering the area.</p>
<p>Witnesses on the North Lawn stated via X (formerly Twitter) that they were told to run and seek shelter inside the White House press briefing room.</p>
<p>The Secret Service confirmed on Saturday they were aware of gunfire reports on 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW near the White House and were verifying details with on-ground personnel.</p>
<p>FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed the FBI was at the scene supporting the Secret Service.</p>
