Daniel Craig is reportedly interested in joining the Narnia franchise.
According to Deadline, Craig is considering a role in Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of The Chronicles of Narnia for Netflix. While it is unclear whether he will officially join the cast, it has been stated that he “holds the offer.”
Details surrounding Craig’s potential character remain undisclosed at this point.
This marks the second notable casting update regarding Narnia this March, as reports have emerged suggesting that Charli XCX might be in negotiations to portray the villainous Jadis, also known as the White Witch.
Craig recently received acclaim for his role in Luca Guadagnino’s film Queer, earning nominations at the Golden Globes, Critics’ Choice, and SAG Awards. He will reprise his role as Detective Benoit Blanc in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, set to premiere on Netflix later this year. The accomplished actor is widely recognized for his portrayal of James Bond in five films, culminating with 2021’s No Time to Die.

Netflix is preparing to start production on Gerwig’s Narnia adaptation later this year, with auditions currently being held for the roles of the young children.
Gerwig has managed to secure a significant deal with IMAX, ensuring that Narnia will premiere on approximately 1,000 screens on Thanksgiving Day 2026. The film is guaranteed IMAX screenings for a minimum of two weeks, after which it will be available for streaming on Netflix around Christmas Day 2026.
Netflix is optimistic that Narnia will serve as a launching pad for a larger franchise. During an earnings call, IMAX’s Rich Gelfond indicated that the streaming service aims to produce eight Narnia films.
Narnia marks Gerwig’s first project following her Oscar-winning film Barbie, which became the highest-grossing film of 2023.
