Happy New Year! AT&T is kicking off 2025 with a rate hike affecting some of its customers.
As reported by Android Authority, subscribers to AT&T FirstNet will notice an increase of $3 per line in their monthly bills. This adjustment has been officially confirmed on AT&T’s website.
AT&T FirstNet is a specialized wireless broadband network tailored for first responders and public safety personnel across the United States, developed in collaboration with the federal government.
The telecom giant claims that this price adjustment is necessary to “continue delivering the excellent wireless service you expect.”
Customers who activated their service after April 15 will not feel the impact of this price rise until they’ve completed nine months with the service. During this time, they will receive a monthly credit of $3 to help offset the future increase.
Historically, AT&T FirstNet subscribers have enjoyed some of the lowest rates in the industry. However, with this recent change, their monthly charges will go up from $45 to $48, representing an approximate 7% increase.
This is likely not the only price increase that AT&T, the second-largest wireless carrier in the U.S., will implement in the coming year. Over the course of 2024, at least three price hikes were noted, including a $10 per line increase for customers on select older unlimited plans, which was announced in June.
Verizon, the leading carrier in the nation, and T-Mobile, the third-largest, also implemented price increases last year.
FirstNet service is available to numerous public safety agencies and personnel, such as law enforcement, firefighters, emergency medical services (EMS), and healthcare professionals, among others.
