Once primarily regarded as a fashion accessory, the Apple Watch has evolved into a vital device that boasts life-saving capabilities. Among its many features, one significant area where it has yet to make strides is blood pressure monitoring. However, new speculation suggests that the upcoming Apple Watch Series 11 and Apple Watch Ultra 3 may finally incorporate the necessary sensors.
Tech insider Mark Gurman recently mentioned in his Power On! newsletter that the next generations of the Apple Watch could feature blood pressure sensors. If these reports hold true, users could receive alerts when their blood pressure levels are elevated.
While Gurman did not delve into specifics, we can expect these devices to launch in the latter half of the year, likely coinciding with Apple’s annual iPhone announcement. Although blood pressure sensing is not a new concept—Samsung has already integrated it into its smartwatches—its addition to the Apple Watch would nevertheless be a significant enhancement.

Historically, blood pressure sensors have faced challenges regarding accuracy. Fortunately, new advancements showcased at CES 2025 included products that claim to offer accurate, medical-grade blood pressure readings directly from the wrist. Given that Apple had previously hinted at this feature for the Apple Watch Series 10, it’s certainly overdue.
The current capabilities of the Apple Watch Series 10 are already impressive, providing a wide range of health metrics. The addition of blood pressure monitoring would further enhance the device’s value, complementing its features that track sleep apnea, heart rate, and even perform ECG tests. While these functionalities may not replace specialized medical equipment, the sensors can alert users to seek medical advice when necessary.
