You may not be familiar with Advance Paris, but this esteemed French audio manufacturer is looking to change that with the introduction of its high-end amplifiers and hi-fi separates, featuring their iconic glowing VU meters, now available in the United States.
Hi-fi aficionados and audio enthusiasts are likely to be most intrigued by the flagship A12 Classic Integrated Amplifier, which boasts a powerful output of 120 watts per channel (into 8 ohms). This integrated amplifier uniquely combines solid-state and tube amplification, incorporating two tubes in the pre-amplifier section to deliver the rich and smooth sound that only tubes provide.
The A12 is equipped with dual toroidal transformers, delivering robust Class A/B amplification that Advance Paris claims can accommodate any speaker type, from bookshelf to tower models, without issue.
However, beyond its power, the A12’s elegant design is likely to be just as appealing. The amplifier features a sleek black finish, finely machined aluminum dials, and buttons, with glowing orange tubes tastefully nestled within the chassis. Its signature glowing blue VU meters have been a hallmark of the brand since 2003, and this design detail may resonate with fans of McIntosh.
While specifics about the A12’s features are limited, it offers impressive connectivity options, including two HDMI ports (on eARC), three optical and coaxial digital inputs, five RCA AUX line inputs (one designated for CD players), a dedicated Phono (MM/MC) input for turntables, two USB ports, and two sets of balanced XLR inputs. An optional Bluetooth module adds to its versatility.
The A12 Classic Integrated Amplifier is priced at $3,799 and is available online and through U.S. dealer partners.
Advance Paris also introduced several other audio components that have made their debut in the U.S. market, including the more budget-friendly X-i75 integrated amplifier, rated at 75 watts per channel for $999; the X-CD9 CD player, which has both digital and analog outputs, priced at $1,199; and the PlayStream A7, a 115-watt-per-channel streaming amplifier retailing for $1,999. The PlayStream A7 supports Ethernet and Wi-Fi connectivity and is compatible with streaming services like Spotify, Deezer, Qobuz, and Tidal.
“American hi-fi lovers have been eagerly anticipating Advance Paris for years, but we’ve approached our expansion carefully, ensuring we partner with the right distributors at the right time,” shared Cédric Léon, product manager at Advance Paris. “The U.S. represents a thrilling market for us, and it seems fitting to establish our presence here on a significant anniversary for our brand.”
