If you’re working with the latest Azure preview APIs, you might notice that some features don’t appear on the usual update pages. For example, the Translator REST API version 2025-10-01-preview is currently in public preview as part of Microsoft Foundry Tools. This means it’s still in testing and not yet fully released for general use.
This preview version introduces a lot of new changes compared to the older Translator v3 API. It uses a different request and response structure, with arrays called “inputs” and “value.” It also offers the option to include advanced language models like GPT-4o and GPT-4o-mini for translation tasks. Additionally, it supports adaptive features such as adjustable tone, gender, and custom behaviors.
Since it’s a preview, the API is mainly for testing and early use. Its features and structure could change before the official release. That’s why you won’t see it listed in Azure updates, which typically only include announcements for stable releases or major previews.
Microsoft hasn’t announced a specific release date or roadmap for when this API will become generally available (GA). Usually, preview APIs go through additional testing, feedback, and validation before they’re released to the public. A formal GA announcement will be made closer to the time when the API is ready.
In the meantime, you can continue testing and evaluating the preview API in non-production environments. Just keep an eye on official documentation for updates. As of now, this API remains in public preview, so its absence from the Azure update pages is normal. Once it moves to GA, Microsoft will confirm this in official Azure updates and documentation.
Using the preview is a good way to explore new features early on. But remember, it’s still under development, so be prepared for possible changes. If you have any further questions or need help, don’t hesitate to ask!
