If you have an HP laptop with a Finnish QWERTY keyboard and you’re trying to type the greater-than (>) symbol, but can’t find the right key combination, here’s what you can do.
On most Finnish keyboards, the > symbol is accessed by pressing Shift + . (the period key). This is because the > key shares the same key as the period, and you need to hold down the Shift key while pressing the period to get the > symbol.
Since your keyboard layout is Finnish and supports Northern Saami/Sápmi languages, you might also want to check your language settings. Make sure your system is set to Finnish or the specific language layout you’re using. Sometimes, switching between different keyboard layouts can change where symbols are located.
If Shift + . doesn’t work, you can also try to find the > symbol by using the Character Map on Windows:
1. Search for “Character Map” in the Start menu.
2. Open it and locate the > symbol.
3. Click on it, then click “Copy.”
4. Paste it wherever you need it.
Another option is to use the Alt code:
– Hold down the Alt key and type 62 on the numeric keypad, then release the Alt key. This will insert the > symbol.
Most of the time, though, the easiest way on Finnish QWERTY keyboards is pressing Shift + the period key. Give that a try first!
