If you’ve recently installed Windows 11 on your HP PC, especially after a hard drive replacement, and you’re trying to set up your printer and scanner, here are some simple steps to help you get everything working smoothly.
First, to connect your printer (LJ M477fnw) wirelessly, even though it’s already connected with a USB cable, you’ll want to add it to your wireless network. Usually, you can do this through the printer’s menu. On the printer, navigate to the Wireless or Network settings, then select the option to connect to Wi-Fi. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect it to your Wi-Fi network. Once connected, your computer should recognize it on the network automatically, but if not, you can add it manually through your Windows Printer settings.
Since your printer also functions as a scanner, you’ll need the correct scanner software. Typically, the drivers and scanner software are included in the printer driver package from the manufacturer’s website. Head to HP’s official website, find your specific printer model, and download the latest full feature software and drivers. This package should include everything needed to run the scanner.
Once downloaded, run the installer and follow the prompts. After installation, your scanner should be ready to use with your preferred scanning software or the Windows Fax and Scan app.
Finally, if you wish to reconnect your printer via USB instead of Wi-Fi, just unplug the USB cable from your PC and plug it into the new port. Windows should automatically detect the device and install the necessary drivers. If it doesn’t, go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Devices’ > ‘Printers & Scanners,’ then click ‘Add a printer’ and select your printer from the list. This should get your printer working via USB again.
