Civilization 7 brings exciting advancements to this classic 4X series, necessitating a fresh approach to strategies and gameplay. The most significant update involves the introduction of Ages, complemented by the more intricate Legacy Points system. These points play a critical role in not only transitioning to new Ages but also in granting various buffs and bonuses as your civilization progresses. While acquiring Legacy Points can be challenging, they are essential for achieving victory. Below is a concise explanation of how these unique points function, as the tutorial may not provide all the necessary details.
Unlocking Legacy Points
Legacy Points are achieved as you reach milestones within each of the four main Legacy Paths. In essence, Legacy Paths track your progress—and that of your opponents—toward one of four victory conditions: Culture, Economics, Military, and Science. Each path contains three milestones that each grant you one Legacy Point before resetting with the arrival of the next Age.
In addition to providing substantial contributions to your overall Age progress, completing each milestone earns you one Legacy Point. These milestones vary for each Legacy Path and differ across Ages as well. For instance, an early Science milestone may have involved researching writing and constructing a library, whereas in the current Age, it requires researching education and assigning four specialists. You can monitor your task progress in the Legacy Path interface, as depicted above, but they also appear as primary objectives on the top left side of your screen.
You can earn Legacy Points across multiple paths simultaneously, but to ultimately secure victory, you must focus on completing just one path. Spreading your efforts too thin among several paths for too long can leave you vulnerable in the competition.
