If you’ve recently created a new AWS account and notice that all your Bedrock Model quotas are showing as zero, don’t worry. This is a common issue that can be fixed easily. Here’s what you can do to set up and enable your quotas properly.

First, understand that when a new AWS account is created, the default quotas for Bedrock Models are often set to zero. This means you don’t automatically get access to any models until you request an increase. The default quota value provided by AWS is typically 10,000, but it won’t be applied automatically to your account until you request it.

When you attempt to request a quota increase, you might see an error message indicating that your current quota is already at the maximum default value (like 10,000), even though it appears as zero in your account. This is because the quota isn’t set up for your account yet.

To resolve this, follow these steps:

  1. Check Your Quota Settings:
Log in to your AWS Management Console and go to the Service Quotas page. Locate the Bedrock Models section and verify the quotas. If they still show as zero, proceed to the next step.

  2. Request a Quota Increase:
Select the specific model or models you need, then click on “Request Quota Increase.” Use this request to set the quota to your desired limit—often starting with the default of 10,000 unless you need more immediately.

  3. Understanding the Process:
Usually, AWS does not automatically apply the default quotas to new accounts. You must explicitly request the increase for each model you want to use. It’s recommended to request quotas for all models needed for your work to ensure smooth operation.

  4. Wait for Approval:
After submitting your quota requests, AWS will review and approve them. This process may take some time, so plan accordingly.

In summary, you need to manually request quotas for each Bedrock Model you wish to access. Starting with the default quota value of 10,000 is a common practice, and you can request increases if your needs grow. Always check your quotas in the Management Console and submit requests for any models you plan to use.

Hopefully, this helps you get your Bedrock Models up and running smoothly on your new AWS account.
