The Elderwood is the latest update for the cozy MMO Palia, introducing an expansive new area for players to discover, complete with fresh crafting materials and quests. This vast region is equipped with numerous stable boards, allowing quicker travel between different parts of the map. Not only will players have to unlock the stables in this new area, but an early quest will also enable them to create a stable board that they can place on their personal property.
In Palia, stable boards serve as fast travel spots, where players can pay gold to move more rapidly across the various maps. Previously, players could only exit their home area through two designated paths, one leading to Kilima Valley and the other to Bahari Bay. The ability to install a stable board on a personal plot is a much-appreciated feature, despite the high cost for newcomers, as it alleviates the hassle of travel.
Talk to Nai’o to Begin the Quest “Up the Hill”
Crafting Your Own Stable Board Unlocks Enhanced Fast Travel
Unlike earlier regions, players must locate all the stables within the Elderwood to unlock them. This quest begins with Nai’o when you enter the new area. Upon completion, Nai’o will provide you with the crafting recipe for your very own stable board, which can then be installed on your property.
Nai’o’s recipe requires 30 Ancient Wood Planks and seven Whitestone Slabs to craft. However, you’ll need to unlock two additional recipes to create these components. Fortunately, gathering these materials is straightforward, and both can be easily found.
Where to Find Ancient Wood Planks
Talk to Ashura to Purchase the Recipe
Before you can gather raw materials, you must visit Kilima Village to speak with Ashura. Ashura is the representative of the Foraging Guild, and you can buy upgrades and recipes from him as you advance in your skills. Simply talk to him to buy the recipe for Ancient Wood Planks for 500 gold.

As implied by the name, Ancient Wood Planks can be crafted from Ancient Wood, which is abundant in the Elderwood region. Search for trees with striking purple leaves and start chopping. You will need at least level six in Foraging and a Fine Axe to gather wood in this area. These pieces of wood can then be used in your sawmill to create Ancient Wood Planks—each plank requires one piece of wood.
Where to Acquire Whitestone Slabs
Talk to Hodari to Purchase the Recipe
Much like the Ancient Wood Planks, you’ll need to buy a recipe before crafting any Whitestone Slabs. For this, you’ll need to find Hodari, the local Mining Guild representative. Speak with him to purchase the recipe for Whitestone Slabs for 300 gold.
Hodari is typically found in Bahari Bay; however, between 10 AM and 2 PM, he may also be in Kilima Village.
Whitestone can be mined in the Elderwood and is characterized by pale gray stone nodes scattered throughout the area. Each node yields a mix of regular Stone and Whitestone when mined using a Fine Pickaxe or better. Placing the raw Whitestone into your smelter will yield one Whitestone Slab for every two pieces of raw Whitestone.
How to Create a Stable Sign
Enable Fast Travel from Your Home
Once you have gathered all the necessary materials, head to your worktable and select the Stable Sign option from the Crafters tab. This sign can be positioned anywhere on your property, and you can create additional signs for any other homes you own. After placing your first Stable Sign, Nai’o will come to your lot to talk with you.

Having a Stable Sign on your property enhances fast travel options in Palia, with travel costs varying based on your destination. Kilima Village has the lowest fare at 10 gold, while Bahari Bay is 25 gold. The most expensive option is traveling to the Elderwood Central Stables, costing 50 gold; however, players can easily offset this with valuable resources from the zone, which can be sold for good prices.
