As a player of Honkai: Star Rail, you’re likely aware that one of the main activities in this game is the hunt for relics. Whenever you unlock a new character, you’ll need to gather materials to level them up and enhance their abilities. Fortunately, this process has an endpoint, as it stops once you use a specific amount of your Trailblazer Power.
In contrast, the search for relics can feel endless. With the Version 3.0 update, HoYoverse made some changes by introducing rare items to make this process a bit easier; these include Wishful Resin and Variable Dice.
How to Acquire and Use Wishful Resin
Before the Version 3.0 update, the only item available to help with your relic grind was Self-Modeling Resin, which allowed you to select the main stat on your Body, Feet, Planar Sphere, or Link Rope piece. Wishful Resin enhances this further by enabling you to choose one sub-stat for one Wishful Resin and two for four.
To use this, go to the synthesis screen from the main menu and click on the tab at the far right at the top. This will display all the relic and planar ornament sets available in the game. Choose the set and piece you wish to modify, then click on “Customized Synthesis” below the relic image.
Note that Self-Modeling and Wishful Resin cannot be used on Head and Hands pieces.
In the Customized Synthesis section, you can select your desired main and sub-stats and confirm your choices. The relic you create will retain all your selections. You can obtain Wishful Resin by completing game content, through the battle pass, or by synthesizing it with either 800 Relic Fragments or one Self-Modeling Resin.
How to Acquire and Use Variable Dice
If you’ve been playing Honkai: Star Rail for some time, you probably know the frustration of getting a perfect relic with the main and sub-stats you want, only to find that the sub-stats are all wrong. Thankfully, Variable Dice provide a second chance to improve that relic.
Once you’ve fully upgraded a relic, you’ll notice a reroll option when you try to enhance it. This allows you to redistribute the enhancements among the sub-stats, which might result in a better or possibly worse relic. After rerolling, you can choose whether to keep the new stats or revert to the old ones, but note that the dice will be used regardless of your decision.
You can earn one die from each Nameless Honor, but this is only available if you purchase the premium tier.
Alternatively, you can create them by using three Self-Modeling Resin for each Variable Dice.
As you can see, Variable Dice are among the rarest items in the game, so you will want to be judicious about how you use them, as there’s always a risk that the results could be unsatisfactory.
