Creating your character is one of the best parts of sandbox games like Aloft. Not only can you customize your clothing, but you can also enhance the quality of your outfit. This enables your character to gain various perks, allowing for advantages like extra tools or increased sprint speed.
After you craft some fabrics at a Loom and bring them to a Sewing Table, you’ll unlock the ability to design even more outfits for your character. With new attire ready, visit the Dye Maker and use the flowers you’ve gathered to create unique colors for your fresh outfits.
Aloft is currently in early access, meaning the game will continually receive updates with new content. We’ll keep our guides for Aloft updated as new information becomes available!
How To Change Your Clothes
Craft New Outfits With A Sewing Machine
As you gather materials while playing Aloft, you will discover that having a few different tables and machines is essential for crafting new clothing. To obtain the necessary recipes, keep exploring the skies to find knowledge stones; some of these stones provide recipes for vital crafting tools.
To create new outfits for your character, you must have the recipes for both the Loom, which turns raw materials into fabric, and the Sewing Table, where you’ll assemble that fabric into clothing. You can use materials like leaf paper, rope, or linen after processing, and you’ll need two fabric pieces for each item you craft.
After positioning the Sewing Table and processing your fabric, interact with the Sewing Table to create new clothing items. You’ll see your current outfit along with empty slots for additional clothing. Click the plus sign to choose a material and specify whether you’re making a top or bottom for your character, then select the color to finish the process. Store any unused outfits for the time being, as mannequins are expected to be released in the future for displaying extra clothing.
Before crafting an outfit, check its stats, since different clothing pieces you create at the Sewing Table come with unique gameplay perks that are only available while wearing that specific item.
- Leaf Apron: Grants a shield that prevents you from getting wet in the rain and enhances your focus when using machines for processing materials.
- Leaf Leg Wraps: Provide the same rain resistance but improve your movement range instead of machinery focus.
- Linen Draped Garments: Protect you from heat in inner biomes and offer two additional slots for quick access tools.
- Linen Pants: Share heat resistance and boost your sprinting speed.
Your original clothing can be recreated and recolored, but it won’t provide any added stat perks.
Recolor Clothing With The Pigment Pool
In the Machines tab of your build menu, you’ll eventually uncover the recipe for a Pigment Machine, which allows you to change the color of various items like clothing or gliders! To craft dye in Aloft, you will need several materials, listed below. Though the pigment pool takes up some space, it is useful for changing your clothing colors with dye from your inventory when you’re selecting color options at the Sewing Table.
