Two free skins, Blood Blaze for the Human Torch and Blood Shield for the Invisible Woman, are now available in Marvel Rivals. These costumes can only be unlocked by playing in the game’s Ranked mode. If you achieve a certain rank in Competitive play, you’ll receive these alternate outfits for your Fantastic Four heroes. Keep in mind that there is a limited time to claim both skins, so you’ll need to act quickly.
This is not the first instance of free skins being offered in Marvel Rivals, and it likely won’t be the last either. The Blood Blaze and Blood Shield skins can be obtained without spending Lattice or Units in the in-game shop; however, you must complete specific criteria to get your hands on each. Additionally, you don’t need to participate in any Season 1 event to unlock these new looks for the characters.
How to Get Invisible Woman’s Blood Shield Skin
Climb the Competitive Ranks
To unlock the Blood Shield skin for the Invisible Woman, players must reach Gold Rank in Competitive mode. Specifically, you’ll need to achieve Gold 3, the lowest rank within the Gold category. This requires winning a series of matches to gather enough points to move beyond the Bronze and Silver ranks.
Each rank has three tiers, so before reaching Silver 1, you’ll progress through Bronze 3, 2, and 1, then Silver 3, 2, and 1. According to the game developers, players must participate in at least 10 competitive matches to become eligible for the Blood Shield skin. This skin represents the effort and perseverance put into climbing the ranks, similar to the golden Moon Knight skin from Season 0. Competitive matches typically demand more skill and time than Quick Play games.
You have until the end of Season 1 to unlock the Blood Shield skin. The original plan was for this skin to vanish halfway through the season on February 21, 2025. Fortunately, the developers have listened to player feedback, providing you with approximately three additional weeks to reach Gold Rank.
On February 21, anyone who has already reached Gold Rank will automatically receive the Blood Shield skin upon its release. Those who manage to attain Gold 3 or higher between February 21 and the end of Season 1 will also earn this skin at no extra cost. It’s worth noting that you do not have to exclusively play as the Invisible Woman to earn this new look.
How to Get Human Torch’s Blood Blaze Skin
Hit an Important Milestone by the Deadline
To unlock the Blood Blaze skin for the Human Torch, you will need to reach Gold Rank by the end of Season 1. Unlike the Blood Shield, the Blood Blaze skin will only be available at the conclusion of the season, rather than being earned throughout.
As of now, the Human Torch has not yet been introduced to the game. He, along with The Thing, is expected to make an appearance around the middle of Season 1, likely around February 21. The currently playable Fantastic Four characters in Marvel Rivals have already showcased unique abilities compared to the rest of the game’s roster, so Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm will likely bring their own distinctive styles.
You can work towards both skins simultaneously by aiming for Gold Rank, ensuring you don’t drop below it by the end of Season 1. By doing so, you’ll receive both the Blood Shield and the Blood Blaze skins once the season concludes.
Strategies for Ranking Up
Play with Friends and Build Strong Team Compositions
To earn either skin for free, you’ll need to progress through Competitive matches until reaching Gold 3. This process can be quite challenging, so it’s a good idea to play with friends for better team communication. Based on experience, it’s often easier to team up with players you know rather than relying on random teammates in online matches.
Keep in mind that you cannot enter Ranked matches with a full group of five players, so one member will need to sit out. Additionally, players on different systems cannot queue together in Competitive mode, meaning crossplay support is limited.
If you want to reach Gold rank efficiently, consider these strategies for securing quick wins:
- Choose a Vanguard character: These are generally easier to rank up with.
- Balance team roles: Make sure your team has a good mix of skills.
- Communicate effectively: Use pinging to share important information with your team.
- Utilize strong meta compositions: Stick with established team setups that are known to be effective.
Vanguard characters tend to have the highest health, making them easier to play effectively than Strategists or Duelists. Also, using pings to highlight enemy positions or remind teammates of crucial objectives can greatly enhance your chances of winning competitive matches. Effective communication and team synergy will help you reach Gold rank in Marvel Rivals, allowing you to unlock both the Blood Shield and Blood Blaze skins during Season 1.
