Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth offers a wide variety of experiences across its open-world regions, featuring a multitude of side quests and combat situations that enhance the journey and highlight the bond among its remarkable characters.
This level of exploration makes tools like the Steal Materia extremely beneficial, as it allows players to engage in battles with a unique goal: to take items from enemies and either sell them for Gil or use them with the Item Transmuter to create better gear.
Updated February 2, 2025, by Seth Parmer: With the release of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on PC, we’ve revised this guide to include detailed information about every item that can be stolen in the game using Steal Materia. We’ve also specified the locations of each enemy, helping you find them more easily, and separated the tables for Bosses and Regular Enemies to highlight which Bosses have stealable items, allowing you to focus on them during your gameplay!
Overview of Steal Materia
Steal Materia serves as a fantastic way to obtain rare or valuable items without much risk, as long as you know which enemies to tackle. The game features hundreds of foes, many of which have items ripe for stealing, which can make finding the right ones a bit confusing.
Interestingly, unlike the previous game, there aren’t any exclusive Weapons, Armor, Accessories, or Materia hidden within this feature, so the main purpose is to acquire useful items that can either be sold for significant amounts of Gil or used to create new equipment with the game’s Item Transmuter.
To find out if a foe has items that can be stolen before engaging in battle, you can use the Assess Materia during encounters. If you discover that an enemy has nothing to steal, it will be indicated by three dashes (—).
How to Acquire Steal Materia
Despite its value, obtaining the Steal Materia is straightforward and easy. After completing Chapter 2, you can find Steal Materia available for purchase in all Vending Machine Shops for a mere 500 Gil, which is quite a bargain.
Moreover, when Yuffie joins your party, she comes equipped with the Steal Materia as one of her default Materia, allowing you to assign it to any character once she’s on your team. So, you’ll have various convenient ways to acquire the Steal Materia!
