Supervive is an energetic MOBA Battle Royale created by Theorycraft Games, featuring a challenging learning curve packed with various mechanics at both the micro and macro levels. If you’re already acquainted with top-down MOBAs like League of Legends, and have had experience with Battle Royales, you will notice some immediate similarities that should ease your entry into the game.
However, Supervive presents a wealth of knowledge to acquire, including insights on the most effective powers, favorable drop zones, optimal character choices, effective character builds, and strategies for winning matches.
Top Starter Characters
Supervive assigns each character, known as Hunters, a difficulty rating. Notable easy-to-learn Hunters include Shrike, Hudson, Felix, and Elluna, all of whom are ranked at the introductory level, making them ideal choices for those beginning their adventure in Supervive.
Shrike
Shrike is a ranged character equipped with a powerful sniper rifle as her default weapon. Her shots inflict a stacking debuff on enemies, meaning that hitting a target multiple times leads to increased damage with subsequent hits. This makes Shrike a great option for players looking to improve their precision, as ineffective shots lead to no damage dealt.
Her abilities include Dive Bomb, which unleashes an area-of-effect (AoE) explosion stunning enemies, a dash move that propels her backward, Scout Hawk, which fires a projectile that grants vision and inflicts anti-heal, and her ultimate ability, Full Bore, which fires a penetrating long-range shot.
Hudson
Hudson is robust and sturdier, although he doesn’t fit the typical tank profile as he focuses more on area control. His continuously firing mini-gun serves as a deterrent, preventing enemies from rushing in or out of cover.
For optimal performance, players should learn when to engage aggressively with Hudson, as he can effectively close gaps with his substantial dash. However, players need to be cautious; Hudson’s aim can be slow while his mini-gun is spinning up, making it hard to track faster characters.
His Q ability, Barbed Wire, can lay down charges that slow and ground foes, controlling enemy movement effectively. His ultimate ability, Salvage Hook, can reel in adversaries with low health, swiftly turning the tide in fights.
Felix
Felix is a frontline character—a fiery fox that dives into the fray to unleash significant burn damage. As a frontliner, your survivability heavily relies on the team’s support; without it, you risk being overwhelmed. Felix shines in coordinated team plays.
His primary playstyle involves dashing into battle and unleashing a Q ability Anti-heal that deals damage and provides a shield if it hits an enemy. Pair this with his ultimate move, Flight of the Firefox, to wreak havoc among vulnerable opponents.
Elluna
Elluna serves as a combat medic, offering consistent healing and crowd control with her Darkside Binding. It’s valuable to have at least one Protector character on your team during engagements since they can greatly sway the outcome of fights.
Her Q ability is an AoE heal, and her ultimate provides tethered healing. Alongside this healing capacity, Elluna boasts excellent mobility, which can be used for either engaging the enemy or escaping sticky situations.
Choosing Your Drop Zone: Fundamentals of Gameplay
Supervive features a sizeable map filled with multiple Points of Interest. When selecting a drop location, consider two primary factors: whether you wish to land near enemies and where you can find the best gatherings of creep camps.
Gaining early power in the game typically involves defeating creep camps or enemies, both of which will yield scraps, item upgrades, and perks.
Creep camps are represented on the map as purple blobs, while vaults are clearly marked from the round’s outset. You’ll see enemy landing areas denoted with colored targets.
Which Contracts to Accept?
After clearing your first creep camp, you’ll encounter a merchant offering separate contracts. You can choose between Brawler (defeat three enemies) or Creep Farm (eliminate 16 creeps).
Choosing Creep Farm is wise in areas dense with creeps where encounters with enemies are unlikely. However, if you land in a high-traffic area, opt for Brawler in hopes of taking down the first team you encounter.
Rotation Strategies
Supervive’s contract system directs your rotations. After you finish your first contract, prioritize obtaining the next one, identifiable on your map with a yellow scroll and an exclamation mark.
As you rotate through the map, aim to:
- Clear creeps for experience and ability upgrades.
- Open Vaults for additional loot.
- Use the Oracle for tracking enemy player positions.
- Secure base camps to replenish armor and brew Vives with Vive Beans.
- Take down foes.
- Defeat bosses.
Vaults and Their Importance
Vaults are signified from the start of the game with a small chest icon on your map. Regular vaults and Abyssal Vaults contain unique Abyssal Items.
It’s crucial to note that these areas are often contested, particularly in the early game.
Opening a vault entails hacking, which involves a mini-game. Your teammates can assist by destroying pilons that spawn to simplify the hacking process; they may also need to eliminate wisps that appear if hacking fails.
Utilizing the Oracle
Marked with a UAV symbol, the Oracle can be used at intervals to reveal enemy players’ positions on the map. Though it won’t give precise locations, it offers a generalized area indicated by a cloud of question marks.
Healing and Armor Upgrades
Healing can be accomplished through various foods, starting with Vive Beans obtained from defeated enemies, chests, and creeps. These can be transformed into tier-two Vive Brews at base camps, serving as your health potions. For tier-three healing, Hypervive can only be looted from enemies, chests, and special vaults.
Armor comes in several forms: you can purchase Uncommon or Rare armor from the shop. Uncommon armor costs 2,000 Coins, while Rare armor is priced at 6,000. Armor can also be gathered from Vaults, Chests, Abyssal Bosses, and Meteor Bosses.
There are four armor tiers: common, uncommon, rare, and legendary.
Round Modifiers
Each round of Supervive features distinct modifiers that vary between games. You may find a Global Oracle, which provides all players with a periodic overview of enemy positions, or encounter Tornadoes that spawn around the map, launching players into the air when they enter them.
This brings a layer of excitement and unpredictability to every match in Supervive, ensuring that no two games feel the same.
