Fantasian Neo Dimension slowly unfolds its character roster, especially when it comes to welcoming new party members. While Leo and Kina join forces early on, you won’t recruit Cheryl until later, and she leaves just as quickly as she arrives.
At first glance, Cheryl might seem like a fragile character with strong magic, but in reality, she is a formidable force capable of taking out numerous enemies effortlessly. Here’s how to maximize her damage output.
Cheryl’s Role in Combat
When you first add Cheryl to your team, her skill set isn’t extensive; however, she does possess a distinctive move—Knight Impact. This move is central to her abilities and enhances her crowd control capabilities, which is where she truly shines.
Early in the game, Cheryl receives the Divine Tiara. Although she can’t fully utilize it yet, it provides a slight boost to all her Ice attacks, giving her an edge over other characters. Since group attacks, like the arcing Ice or the area-of-effect damage from Knight Impact, have no damage reduction, it’s crucial for her to aim for as many enemies as possible with her attacks.
Shortly after joining the team, Cheryl will gain the Focus skill, making her effectively self-sufficient as long as Leo or Kina keep her health up. Her MP can be replenished indefinitely, allowing her to unleash tremendous damage. Pairing Cheryl with Pezzottaite jewels, which restore MP for every enemy defeated, can be advantageous.
While Cheryl excels at inflicting damage on multiple targets, she also has the potential to deliver hefty single-target hits. Once you unlock both Charge and Concentrate, hitting an enemy with an Ice or Dark Strike can result in staggering damage. Be sure to pair her with allies who can boost her Attack Power further, such as Ez.
Cheryl’s Skills
When you recruit Cheryl in Act 1, you only have her for a limited time before she and Kina are taken from you. Despite this short window, she has access to a decent variety of moves.
Here’s a list of skills Cheryl can acquire through leveling up:
Skill | Effect | Level Unlocked |
---|---|---|
Ice | An Ice-element attack that arcs and can pierce enemies. | Level 8 |
Focus | Allows Cheryl to recover a significant portion of her MP for free. | Level 11 |
Ice Strike | An Ice-element attack that arcs to strike a single enemy. | Level 13 |
Slow | Strikes a single enemy along an arc, reducing the frequency of their turns. | Level 16 |
Although Cheryl reaches a skill cap early due to her temporary absence, she can later access her Growth Map, where the majority of her abilities lie, significantly enhancing her attack power.
Cheryl’s Growth Map
Cheryl receives her Divine Artefact, the Tiara, right away, granting her a passive bonus to Ice damage. She will fully unlock the Tiara’s capabilities once she is rescued in Act 2. Initially, it’s wise to aim for skills like Jewel Slot + and Tension, and afterward, focus on:
- Charge and Double Charge
- Dark and Dark Strike
- Concentrate
- MP Cost Down
These skills will enable Cheryl to execute more attacks, leading to an incredible increase in damage output. Skills such as Charge, Concentrate, and Attack Power Up buffs stack, allowing her typical attack damage in the 2,000-3,000 range to exceed 10,000, even on group hits like Knight Impact. MP Cost Down ensures she can sustain her offensive for longer periods.
In addition to these, it’s beneficial to pursue other complementary skills. MP Every Turn is perfect for longer battles, and Knight Impact RNG+ is a straightforward upgrade. Although some skills, like Darkness and Blizzard and their single-target versions, are locked behind certain nodes, they are highly effective once they become available.
