Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma revolves around discovering the gods of Azuma and restoring their power to combat a terrible blight and protect the world. This lengthy journey requires you to locate and complete tasks for all six gods, who eventually appear as ordinary folks once unlocked.
One of these gods is Kanata, who becomes available later in the main storyline. If you want to make her your partner, you’re in luck; her favorite gifts are prominently highlighted throughout the game.
Overview of Kanata and Her Locations
| Residence | Summer Village |
|---|---|
| Birthday | Summer 14th |
In Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, you’ll encounter six gods, but only four will reveal themselves early on. As you progress, you’ll unlock Kai, the god of oni, who will guide you into the Underworld to combat Lord Ura and reclaim his strength.
After completing his quest, you can start the process to unlock the final god, Kanata. After she visits you in a dream, you’ll need to venture into the Heavenly Realm before the other gods suggest hosting a party in her honor. She’ll officially join your team during this celebration, marking the completion of your collection of god characters.
Don’t forget the dishes you prepare for Kanata’s party; they’re useful for building a romantic bond with her.
Kanata is somewhat elusive; although she resides in Summer Village, you typically won’t find her there even if you sleep at the shrine. She often leaves early in the morning and can frequently be spotted in the Spring and Winter Villages. Additionally, you might also catch her in Autumn Village. The best way to locate her is to wait for some time to pass in-game, then check the top-right corner of the village for her icon.
Top Gifts and Hangouts for Kanata
If you look at Kanata’s profile in the game, you’ll find a section for her preferences that lists her loves, likes, dislikes, and hates. These gifts will enhance your interactions with her; however, you won’t see the highlights until you give her a gift.
You can spend time with Kanata once each day, which helps to quickly boost your bond with her. Giving her a gift can earn you anywhere from eight to 29 bond points, depending on how well it aligns with her preferences. You can also gain extra bond points through hangout events that she enjoys.
Be cautious when gifting her something she doesn’t prefer, as it might decrease your bond with her.
Fortunately, getting gifts for Kanata isn’t overly complicated. Here are some of her best options:

Best Hangouts with Kanata
When hanging out with Kanata, you can choose to discuss intellectual topics or grab a meal at Iroha’s or Yachiyo’s, as she enjoys these activities as well.
Kanata’s Role in Combat
Once you increase your bond with Kanata to level one, you can add her to your party for combat. She specializes in healing and is a great asset unless you already have Ulalaka on your team. Kanata wields a Talisman, allowing her to deal various types of damage.
Each bond level you achieve with her unlocks a new buff or recipe:
| Bond Level | Unlocked Effect |
|---|---|
| 1 | Boost in Kanata’s M.ATK (magic attack). |
| 2 | Unlocks the Light Blast skill for light damage. |
| 3 | Unlocks the Cure skill for healing and status effects, including reviving allies. |
| 4 | Unlocks the Light Bullets skill that homes in on enemies. |
| 5 | Grants the Bunny-Ear Headband recipe, mainly for decoration. |
| 6 | Boosts her M.ATK by 20% with the Spirit Stance skill. |
| 7 | Enhances the Light Blast skill to Fivefold Light Blast. |
| 8 | Unlocks the Light Pillars skill, dealing high damage in a straight line. |
| 9 | Grants the Dance of the Heavens skill, summoning butterflies that linger in battle. |
| 10 | Unlocks the Know Thy Place skill. |
While Kanata excels in combat, her light attacks are less effective against enemies of the same element. Nevertheless, she is a versatile warrior in most battles.
Guide to Marrying Kanata
Once you reach bond level ten with Kanata and complete her questline, which includes fulfilling her past bond level seven, you’re able to ask her to the Fateweaver Shrine. Make sure you have a Plum Branch and Divine Spirits in your inventory.
You can tie the knot the next time you go to sleep. Five days post-wedding, Kanata will inquire if you wish to expand your family, leading to a child appearing ten days later. If you decline, she will revisit the topic every five days. After your first child’s birth, you can continue the story to its conclusion.
