The legendary FAMAS assault rifle makes its return in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. This iteration is a fully automatic rifle known for its rapid fire rate, solid base damage, and lower handling stats, classifying it as a hybrid between an assault rifle and a submachine gun. It’s particularly effective at close range, but with the right attachments, the FFAR 1 can also perform well at longer distances.
In this guide, we’ll explore two effective builds for the FFAR 1, making it a great choice for both Multiplayer and Zombies. One build is aimed at controlling recoil for Multiplayer battles, while the other utilizes the Gunfighter Wildcard to enhance this weapon’s mobility, creating a powerful option for close-quarters combat.
Unlocking the FFAR 1
You can unlock the FFAR 1 by completing the Season 4 Battle Pass reward track. By playing through any Multiplayer, Zombies, or Warzone playlists, you’ll earn progress toward unlocking rewards. The FFAR 1 is available on Page 6, requiring at least 29 unlocks — 22 tokens to access the sixth page and an additional seven to claim the weapon itself.
After Season 4 concludes, the FFAR 1 will join the Armory system. You’ll be able to unlock it by earning XP while this weapon is currently selected as your Armory unlock. You can find Armory challenges within the “Challenges” section under the Barracks tab.

The FFAR behaves more like an SMG than a traditional assault rifle, featuring lower range stats but a rapid fire rate. It’s best to avoid using this weapon beyond medium range, but with the right recoil-control attachments, it remains effective. The Recoil Springs are essential in almost every configuration due to their extensive recoil reduction, making the FFAR significantly more reliable over distance.
This weapon has considerable vertical recoil, so a Compensator can help you control recoil climb. There may be some side-to-side movement, but keeping engagements under 30 meters will mitigate any major issues. For longer distances, add a Long Barrel to improve range falloff, a Quickdraw Grip to minimize the aiming-down-sights time, and Extended Mag I to lessen reloads. The magazine doesn’t carry any downsides, making it a must-have.
If added recoil isn’t a concern, consider swapping the Compensator for a Suppressor. Use this in conjunction with the Ghost perk to keep off enemy radars.

The aggressive nature of the FFAR pairs well with the Enforcer Specialty, enabling healing and speed boosts after each kill. We suggest Scavenger for replenishing your limited ammo, Hunter’s Instinct for another beneficial perk, and Slipstream to eliminate tactical sprint-to-fire delays. Using Perk Greed allows for a fourth perk; consider using Flak Jacket or Ghost.
Your equipment choice can vary based on style. Stims provide a quick healing option, while Combat Axes are great when prepped. For your Field Upgrade, opt for a Trophy System in objective modes.

This updated build enhances mobility while retaining accuracy. It shares five attachments from the previous build to keep the weapon’s recoil in check. The Ranger Foregrip reduces horizontal recoil and boosts sprint speed. Since the default aim-down-sights strafe speed is somewhat sluggish, consider using an Infiltrator Pad alongside your preferred red dot sight for better performance.
This build also performs well in Zombies mode. If you need higher damage output in later rounds, you might swap Recoil Springs for Rapid Fire.
