Pokémon GO 2025 Community Day: Sprigatito Spotlight
As we kick off 2025, Pokémon GO is back with its popular Community Days, starting with Sprigatito, a beloved Grass-type Pokémon from Paldea. If you’ve been trying to catch this Pokémon previously, now is your chance to snag one!
Community Days are regular events in the Pokémon GO calendar, much like the Max Mondays in January. These events typically feature a single Pokémon, creating a fantastic opportunity for trainers to capture it. While the events may be small, they provide significant bonuses and exciting updates for participants in 2025.
Event Participation Details
Unlike other events that may last an entire week, Community Days are only available for a few hours. The Sprigatito Community Day is set for Sunday, January 5, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM (local time). The bulk of the event is free for all players, but there is a ticket option available for purchase, which unlocks additional special research tasks.
A Closer Look at the Rewards
Although there are still some issues in Pokémon GO that need attention, Community Days have consistently been well-received. The highlight of this event is that Sprigatito will appear in significantly greater numbers. This increased spawn rate not only enhances your chances of catching a strong version for battles but also boosts your likelihood of encountering its shiny variant.
During the Community Day event, players can look forward to free Timed Research, premium Special Research, and various Field Research tasks, all designed to assist in capturing Sprigatito. To prepare for the day, stock up on Pinap Berries and Poké Balls to ensure you’re well-equipped.
New Attack and Bonuses
Sprigatito is set to gain an exclusive attack during the Community Day. If you evolve it into Floragato during the event, and then further to Meowscarada, it will learn the Grass-type charged move Frenzy Plant. This move offers a higher attack power than existing options, making Meowscarada a strong contender for Raids, Gym Battles, and PvP encounters. Additionally, post-event, you’ll have the chance to teach Meowscarada another new charged attack: Flower Trick. You’ll need 125 Sprigatito candies to fully evolve it.
Note: You can evolve Floragato for up to five hours after the event concludes, and it will retain the Frenzy Plant move!
A plethora of bonuses will be available to all participants during the three hours of the Sprigatito Community Day, such as 3x Stardust and 2x Candy for catching Pokémon. Trainers at level 31 and above will have double the typical chances of receiving Candy XL with any Pokémon caught.
Moreover, any Incense or Lure Modules activated during the event will last for an extended duration of three hours. Every trainer will also receive an extra Special Trade for the day, and all trades will cost 50% less Stardust. Don’t forget to take snapshots throughout the event for an additional surprise, usually a rare Pokémon that can be captured!
Finding Shiny Sprigatito
Thanks to the surge in Sprigatito spawns, players will have enhanced opportunities to capture its shiny version, as well as the shiny forms of Floragato and Meowscarada. While it’s impossible to know in advance if the Pokémon is shiny, the increased spawn rates give you the best odds. If you encounter a non-shiny Sprigatito, simply back out and continue trying until you find one.
Tip: If you catch a shiny Sprigatito and evolve it, both Floragato and Meowscarada will also inherit the shiny appearance.
In addition to the heightened spawn rates, you can further enhance your chances of encountering a shiny by using Incense and Lure Modules, which increase overall Pokémon spawns. The first Community Day of 2025 promises to spotlight Sprigatito, filled with excellent bonuses that make it a must-attend event for players everywhere.
In Summary
Make sure to mark your calendars for the Sprigatito Community Day. It promises not only the excitement of capturing a beloved Pokémon but also a range of bonuses and special features. Whether you’re a seasoned trainer or just starting out, this event is an excellent opportunity for everyone involved. Good luck, and happy capturing!
