To upgrade your tech tree and unlock new equipment for your Trampler, like Mk2 Energy Rods, you need to find Sand Raiders of Sophie Coral Chunks and Weird Coral. Specifically, you’ll require 150 Coral Chunks and 15 Weird Coral, which means gathering quite a bit of each. This will likely involve several trips out or one long journey if you’re well-prepared and willing to take the risk of staying out longer. Below, I’ve outlined where to locate Weird Coral and Coral Chunks in Sand to help make collecting these resources easier.
Where to Find Sand Raiders or Sophie Coral Chunks
Coral Chunks are commonly found inside Rare Valuables Safes, which are large black-and-gold boxes usually located at key points of interest. From my gameplay experience, the only place I’ve personally found Coral Chunks is inside these safes. Keep a lookout for them as you explore—collecting plenty of these safes is essential if you want to advance through the tech upgrades.
How to Get Sand Raiders or Sophie Weird Coral
Weird Coral is harder to come by and is usually dropped by defeated Upiors—coral zombies that you can often find at points of interest but sometimes spawn at shipwrecks scattered through the desert. The chance of obtaining Weird Coral is low, so you’ll need to eliminate many of these zombie enemies to gather enough for your upgrades.
The best way to gather both resources is to take your Trampler to various named points of interest and attack every Upior you encounter, looting all containers in the area, especially safes. Since many containers are empty, carrying a portable storage box can help you hold more items. When opening safes or other loot containers, press Tab and store the contents directly into your box instead of your main inventory.
Looting takes some time, especially if you’re playing alone. To avoid drawing attention, consider turning off your Flare or disabling your Trampler’s engine—this stops the smoke trail, which often alerts enemies. After finishing a location, you can move on to another point of interest or return to base to secure your haul.
Once you’ve cleared an area, look into how to extract safely in Sand Raiders of Sophie so you can transport your loot back without losing it.
