Niantic, the team behind Pokémon GO, has revealed the Legendary Flight event, inviting Trainers both new and seasoned to join in the excitement. This event, part of the ongoing Dual Destiny season, will unfold over several weeks. The highlight of the Legendary Flight is its focus on the three legendary birds—Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres—allowing players to challenge these iconic Pokémon utilizing the game’s latest gameplay mechanics.
During this event, you’ll have the opportunity to battle—and hopefully catch—the Legendary birds in their Dynamax forms through Max Battles. While their Galarian forms remain among the rarest Pokémon in Pokémon GO, participating in the event on specific dates gives you a great chance to enhance your collection. Furthermore, each week of the Legendary Flight event will provide additional Max Battles against past bosses, opening doors for those who missed earlier opportunities during the recent Max Mondays.
Complete Legendary Flight Event Schedule
Keep an Eye on Your Calendar for the Next Three Weeks
The Legendary Flight event in Pokémon GO kicks off on Monday, January 20, 2025, at 6 PM, featuring Dynamax Articuno as a Max Monday boss available for one hour at every Power Spot until 7 PM. Following its debut, Dynamax Articuno will serve as a week-long Max Battle boss at selected locations until Monday, January 27th. The subsequent focus will be on Dynamax Zapdos and Dynamax Moltres, according to the schedule below:
Legendary Flight Boss |
Max Monday Date & Time |
Max Battle Week Dates |
---|---|---|
Dynamax Articuno |
Monday, January 20, 2025, from 6 PM to 7 PM |
Monday, January 20 to Monday, January 27, 2025 |
Dynamax Zapdos |
Monday, January 27, 2025, from 6 PM to 7 PM |
Monday, January 27 to Monday, February 3, 2025 |
Dynamax Moltres |
Monday, February 3, 2025, from 6 PM to 7 PM |
Monday, February 3 to Monday, February 9, 2025 |
Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres are Ice, Electric, and Fire types, respectively. Be sure to assemble a team that targets each boss’s weaknesses to maximize your chances of success in every Max Battle.
Having both Max Mondays and Max Battle Weeks for Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres is advantageous. Max Mondays guarantee that players can battle the featured Pokémon during the one-hour window, while Max Battle Weeks, despite not offering the same certainty, allow for more opportunities to encounter each Legendary bird over a longer period that shares its Power Spot with various others.
Shiny Pokémon Available During the Legendary Flight Event
Legendary Birds & Other Bosses
The Legendary Flight event will grant players a chance to find and catch Shiny versions of several Pokémon, including Dynamax Articuno, Dynamax Zapdos, and Dynamax Moltres. This means that after defeating any of these bosses and entering the capture screen, there is a possibility of encountering a Shiny Pokémon. Additionally, other Shiny Pokémon that can appear during Max Battles include:
- Charmander
- Beldum
- Bulbasaur
- Cryogonal
- Squirtle
- Krabby
Please note that the odds of running into a Shiny Pokémon are generally low and are often better during Community Day events. If you’re an avid Shiny collector seeking alternate-hued versions of the Legendary birds, prepare for a lengthy hunt throughout the Legendary Flight event. Nonetheless, with persistence and patience, you could get lucky and find at least one!
Extra Max Battles
Familiar Faces With Extra Boss Battles
Not every Max Battle boss is Shiny yet, but the Legendary Flight event will provide a variety of other Max Battle bosses in Pokémon GO, such as Charmander, Scorbunny, Grookey, and Krabby. Each week, different Pokémon will be available. From January 20 to 27, in addition to Articuno, you’ll encounter Charmander, Scorbunny, and Beldum.
From January 27 to February 3, you can find Bulbasaur, Cryogonal, and Grookey battling alongside Zapdos. Lastly, near Moltres, you can face off against Squirtle, Sobble, and Krabby. Don’t forget to stick to the Legendary Flight schedule starting on Monday, January 20, to add Dynamax Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres to your Pokémon GO collection.
