In Caves of Qud, you can explore the world while carrying your items with you. However, your carrying capacity is limited, so you might often face tough choices about what to keep and what to sell to NPCs. Fortunately, storing items is also an option available to you.
This guide will show you how to store items in Caves of Qud. The method is straightforward, but if you haven’t utilized storage before, it may not be clear at first.
Where Can You Put Your Stuff?
You can place items in chests and on tables that are not owned by anyone else. While exploring settlements or ruins, keep an eye out for unattended chests. If you try to access a chest or table that someone owns, a message will pop up to inform you.
If the chest or table is unclaimed, then you can open it and take its contents freely. You can also store any of your items in those chests or on tables as needed. Later, you can return to retrieve your belongings.
Can You Pick Up Chests?
Absolutely! You can pick up any chest you encounter, but ensure it’s not owned by anyone to avoid complications. You can find unclaimed chests in dungeons or ruins, and some settlements also have unowned chests that you can collect.
You can pick up chests even if they contain items.
Once you have chests in your inventory, you can place them in a safe, central location for your items. This can help you create a simple storage system where specific chests hold different types of goods.
Best Places to Store Items
With this in mind, where should you store your items? At TheGamer, we’ve made a small house in Joppa our ‘storage hub.’ In this settlement, two tiny huts sit on the left side of town. We chose the lower one, closest to Argyve’s house. This location has a table where you can place your items.
Additionally, we found a chest in the ruins and set it up here. Now, we have two storage spots in our little house. With the Joppa Recoiler, returning here to stash our belongings is simple.
Any place with a recoiler is a suitable storage location. For example, if you acquire a Grit Gate Recoiler, you can store items there and easily return if you travel too far.
Storing items at Grit Gate is wise if you enjoy tinkering, as there are many people who trade tinkering supplies.
In summary, we recommend establishing a storage area in a settlement with plenty of unowned chests or bringing your own chests to places you visit frequently.
