In Atlyss, you will engage in battles against a diverse array of foes in dungeons and other settings, with difficulty increasing as the game continues. Leveling up unlocks new skills that enhance your fighting experience, making encounters more enjoyable and manageable.
The dungeons in this game are distinctive, often changing their entire look and layout. Although the overall map remains constant, the progression paths within the dungeons alter each time you enter. It may take some time to understand how dungeons operate in Atlyss, but once you grasp the mechanics, you’ll find overcoming challenges to be much easier.
How to Access the Crescent Grove Dungeon
The Crescent Grove Dungeon is accessed from the Crescent Keep area, which you can reach by traveling through the Woodreach Pass within the Effold Terrace field zone. To get into this dungeon, you need to complete the Keep Within quest, which is assigned by Angela inside the Sanctum.
This quest requires you to find the East Wing and West Wing Sigils within the Crescent Keep. After you bring both sigils back to Angela, she will give you the Tethering Grove quest, which involves locating the third sigil inside the Crescent Grove dungeon.
The Tethering Grove quest will direct you to return to the chamber of the East Wing Sigil in the Crescent Keep, where you’ll notice the large door in that chamber is now unlocked. This allows you to proceed directly to the Crescent Grove area.
Accepting the Tethering Grove quest is necessary to open the path to the Crescent Dungeon. If you skip this quest from Angela, you won’t be able to move forward.
Preparing for the Crescent Grove Dungeon
The Crescent Grove Dungeon can be entered once you reach level 15. However, it is advisable to wait until you are at least level 18 or even 20 before entering. The foes inside this dungeon are extremely tough, and effective parrying does not stagger them for long.
Additionally, many enemies within the dungeon can defeat you with two or three well-placed hits. Therefore, it’s wise to invest some points in Vitality to bring it to at least 20. Also, don’t forget to bring healing items, like Bunpot or Bunjar.
If you’re struggling to level up, consider picking up repeatable quests from the three guardians or heading to the Sanctum Catacombs dungeon for efficient experience gain.
Crescent Grove Dungeon Guide
No matter the dungeon layout, the puzzles are relatively straightforward. You simply need to keep fighting and moving ahead. If you encounter levers that are difficult to access, utilize jump dashes and search for ledges to climb and reach them.
For any locked doors featuring chains and a keyhole, you’ll need to explore the dungeon further to locate a key.
Some passageways and open rooms feature moving traps, so proceed with caution when navigating from one room to another. These traps typically inflict minimal damage and pose little risk unless you’re low on health.
Crescent Grove Dungeon Enemy List |
|||
---|---|---|---|
Name |
Level |
Attacks |
How to Defeat |
Deadwood |
15 |
Deadwood attacks from range when you are afar. You will see it glow before launching a projectile. It also has a melee attack that slams the ground beneath it, dealing damage in a small area of effect. |
Stay close to this enemy and parry its melee strikes to create a small window of stagger. |
Red and Blue Mushrooms |
16 |
While similar in most ways, one mushroom uses ice while the other employs fire in their attacks. These mushrooms will glow purple before diving their heads to the ground, producing a small shockwave of elemental energy. If you get hit, expect to sustain damage over time. |
The smash attack is quite sluggish, allowing you to easily block or parry. However, avoiding the shockwave entirely by dashing away just before their attack is optimal. |
Maw |
17 |
This enemy is a tougher variant of the Mouths you faced in the Crescent Keep. Maws deliver two melee strikes which can inflict significant damage if not blocked or parried. In addition, they can shoot a poison ball that bounces before forming a puddle. |
To combat this foe, stay aggressive and hit it consistently. Time your parry precisely when you see it opening its mouth for maximum efficiency. In face of multiple Maws, utilize area of effect attacks to chip away their health and potentially take them down. |
Carbuncle |
18 |
Carbuncles are the signature enemies of Crescent Grove, floating around and attacking with magical ranged strikes. |
Since Carbuncles have low health and slow attacks, you can effectively use ranged weapons while evading their projectiles. |
Monolith |
19 |
Monoliths are a stronger version of the golems found in the Crescent Keep, boasting more durability. Their attack roster includes a new mid-range projectile attack where they pierce the ground with their hands, causing spikes to erupt towards you. |
Keep your distance and use a bow to inflict damage or stay up close where they cannot use their mid-range spike attack. |
The great thing about the dungeons is that you can restart from where you died. If you enter a room filled with purple mist and enemies spawn, your task is to defeat them. Failures will see you return to the dungeon, allowing you to restart from the chamber and continue your challenge.
By completing each challenge, you’ll spawn treasure chests, potentially filled with excellent gear and weapons for characters under level 20. So if you’re facing difficulty on your first run through the dungeon, persevere, as you might find weaponry that makes subsequent sections far more manageable.
As you approach the dungeon’s conclusion, you will eventually find the sigil that you were directed to attune in the Tethering Grove quest. Upon completing the attunement, you can return to Angela to finish the quest using the Recall skill or, alternatively, you can continue ahead through the purple portal situated in the center of the room.
If you choose to use this purple portal, you will be taken to the boss arena for Colossus. Colossus is a level 20 boss with significant health and armor. However, defeating it is not necessary to finish the dungeon or the quest. Alternatively, you can return to the Crescent Keep via a smaller portal located in the same chamber as the larger purple one.
Rewards for Completing Crescent Grove Dungeon
In addition to all the loot you’ve collected in the dungeon, you can head back to Angela to complete the Tethering Grove quest. Finishing this quest will grant you 800 crowns and over 3,500 experience.
Moreover, after you successfully clear the dungeon, you can speak to Angela again to accept the repeatable Spiraling In The Grove quest, offering you 950 crowns, around 3,500 experience, and several valuable consumables upon clearing the Crescent Grove Dungeon.
